A Victoria man was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Thursday, March 15, after he was found guilty of unlawful manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in an amount over 400 grams.

A jury found Chad Wade Spence, 27 guilty on three counts relating to the manufacture of methamphetamine.  The jury sentenced Spence to 40, 15, and 5 years in prison and $50,000 in total fines.

On July 22, 2011, Spence was apprehended after residents in Victoria County reported suspicious activity on their property.  The Victoria County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and discovered more than 3000 grams of illegal methamphetamine hidden in a covert laboratory.

At trial, the jury learned that Spence was on parole for burglary of a habitation at the time of the offense.
