Additionally, pets help improve our health by lowering blood pressure, reducing stress, and promoting exercise. As responsible pet owners, we can assure that dogs, cats, and other pets remain enjoyable members of our lives and the lives of those around us. 

Adoption of Animals
The Victoria City-County Animal Shelter has dogs and cats available for adoption
Monday thru Thursday 8:00 A.M.–5:00 P.M. and Friday 8:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M.  Dogs and cats adopted from our shelter are required by state law to be vaccinated for rabies and spayed or neutered.  Aggressive breeds of dogs or individual dogs with aggressive personalities are not adopted out.

Adoption Fees for Dogs

Adoptions include rabies vaccination, spay or neuter, microchip, deworming, and heartworm test (if old enough).

Small ----- (0-25lbs)-------- $ 120.00 - $ 130.00
Medium --- (26-50lbs) ------ $ 130.00 - $ 145.00
Large ----- (51-75lbs) -----   $ 140.00 - $ 165.00
X-Large --- (76-100lbs) ----- $ 160.00 - $ 175.00

Adoption Fees for Cats

Adoptions include rabies vaccination, spay or neuter, microchip, deworming, and test for Feline Leukemia and Feline Aids.  Male- $ 105.00  Female- $ 125.00


Impoundment of Animals

If your animal is picked up by Animal Control personnel, animal will be held, for 72 hours at:

Impound Fees:

If currently vaccinated and spayed/neutered  $25.00 as of February 1, 2014
If not vaccinated or spayed/neutered        $75.00 as of February 1, 2014
*Additionally the animal will be required to receive a rabies vaccination at the cost of $15.00 if proof of current vaccination is not provided.

Boarding charges of $20.00/per day may also apply to any impounded animal.

Animal Bites 

In accordance with state law, all animal bites must be reported to the Animal Control Division.
